A Dramatic Climax to Chelsea's Summer of Selling and Spending - The Nicolas Jackson Saga

Chelsea’s transfer escapades always raise eyebrows. Clearlake’s complete overhaul of the squad has been controversial from the start — long contracts, eye-watering fees, and the mass exodus of big names (often to rivals).
This window has been no different. Players who played vital roles in last season’s successes have been sold to make way for yet another wave of arrivals.
I'm Sorry Nic Jackson
Two of the new faces in Chelsea Blue this year are strikers in Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. With both of the new frontmen being signed and available during the successful Club World Cup run and both hitting the ground running, Nicolas Jackson's time at the club appeared to have come to an earlier end than some may have expected.
24 Premier League goals across two seasons for a young and developing centre forward isn't a terrible return - especially when considering he only had one season of top flight experience in Spain for Villarreal prior to joining Chelsea.
Yet, with Pedro grabbing 5 in 5 for his new club and Delap providing an old school Chelsea frontman feel, Nico's blue day was almost over.
This looked all but confirmed with a loan move to Bayern Munich receiving the sacred 'Here We Go' from Fabrizio Romano - a move that would smash the record for a loan fee - a staggering £15 million for a 12 month loan.
A Change of Heart

Until, 15 minutes into Chelsea's 2-0 victory of neighbours Fulham on Saturday, when Liam Delap's strong start to the game was cut short as he pulled up grasping his right hamstring.
Suddenly Jackson's Munich Medical was put on hold and the club demanded he return to London, despite him already having flown to Germany to finalise the deal.
🚨⚠️ Bayern director Max Eberl on Nico Jackson: “I'm not in a position to act. We will tell the player and his agent that they have to go back to London, he’s Chelsea player”.

Somewhat understandably there was reportedly some reluctance to return by the Senegalese International and his camp. With the situation still currently up in the air (in more ways than one), it still remains to be seen where Chelsea's Conference League Final goalscorer will be playing his football this season.
And It Still Isn't Over...
Rumours this morning suggest that Chelsea understand Jackson reluctance to return and have begun to explore emergency options to bring in in the final hours of the window.
One name that has been prominent is Sporting Lisbon’s Conrad Harder. He played alongside new Arsenal recruit Viktor Gyokeres last season and the Blues will have to fight off competition in RB Leipzig for his signature.
Enzo Maresca has added a plethora of options to his already stacked squad, Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap provide new attacking muscle, not to mention 18 year-old Brazillian wonderboy Estevao joining up with the squad after agreeing a deal last season.
In fact - as Nicolas Jackson was requested to return - yet another attacking addition was announced in Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentine winger penned a 7-year deal for a fee of £40 million from Manchester United, once again showing Chelsea's intent to add depth to their ranks.
There has been murmurs of more arrivals as well - Barcelona maestro Fermin Lopez is one name that has been mentioned on numerous occasions, whilst a slightly surprising loan deal for Brighton's Facundo Buanonotte looks close to completion.
Transfer Twists and Turns
This summer has been predictably unpredictable with both departures and arrivals to the Bridge. Noni Madueke made the switch to the red side of North London for a sizeable £52 million - a £23 million profit on the fee paid by the Blues 2 years ago.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - a fan favourite in his short stint in Chelsea Blue - has made a fantastic start to life at the brand new Hill Dickinson Stadium for Everton - netting his first goal in the Toffees 3-2 win away to Wolves.
Christopher Nkunku is another to leave in recent days, joining former blues Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus Cheek at AC Milan.
It still remains to be seen if Jackson’s Bayern move will materialise but one thing is for certain - another striker is needed.
